Mexican flags waved in the air at the Miller Lite stage Saturday afternoon for Mexico City alternative rockers Zoé who battled the direct sun throughout their ACL set. At one point charismatic front man León Larregui opened up a water can, sprayed some water at the crowd and cooled down with it too.

But energy levels stayed up as one of Latin America’s rock heavyweights performed songs from their noted catalog, which spans nearly 20 years. Festivalgoers sang along to the classics and also danced to new songs from their fifth studio album “Programaton.” Zoé showed off a range of rhythms ranging from psychedelic and atmospheric to bluesy and pop rock. Larregui whipped out his harmonica and had the crowd cheering when he sang into a mini megaphone.

Larregui said one of his favorite flags in the crowd was a blended version of both the Mexican and American flag in one, which also reflected the crowd of faithfuls that they attracted. Fans got the most hyped up with the song “No Me Destruyas” and Larregui threw some cans of water into the audience. Some fest-goers yelled “Chilango band!” which indicates a Mexico City group, but fans from throughout Latin America filled the crowd.

As their set ended the band thanked all the people from Mexico, which got big cheers. Fans yelled for an encore, but their ACL wishes couldn’t be granted.
