If a SXSW performance is billed as a headliner “and friends,” it instantly becomes a must-see. But forget the fest tips: Miley Cyrus showed up at Fader Fort, y’all.
The “Wrecking Ball” superstar showed up as a guest of producer and bosom buddy Mike Will Made-It at the end of his hip hop showcase Thursday night. The Cyrus cameo was one of the first major celebrity surprises of SXSW 2015, if not the flashiest. A … Mileystone, if you will.
Cyrus jumped in on her song with Mike Will Made-It, “23,” before launching into the requisite (and crowd-insanity-inducing) “We Can’t Stop.” She also joined fellow guests Rae Sremmurd on “Throw Sum Mo” (the studio version of the song features another colorful lady, Nicki Minaj).
The former “Hannah Montana” was decked out in sequined camouflage and was flanked by a small army of Mike Will Made-It’s other guests, including Rae Sremmurd, Future and Riff Raff. Cyrus didn’t do anything too outré, but she took time to spray the audience with a water gun, shoot some confetti into the crowd and, scout’s honor, she stuck her tongue out at least once.
