Charlie Pierce & Choctaw Wildfire, “Nowhere” (Young Cubs). The foundation here is mostly traditional country music, but Choctaw Wildfire’s sound centers on Pierce’s lyrical piano runs rather than the more typical twanging guitars. The opening “Daggers” is a highlight, with Pierce’s clear baritone vocals bringing to life the desperation and regret in the lyrics. Release show May 30 at Stay Gold. Check out the album’s title track here.

Guy Forsyth Blues Band, “The Pleaser.” For this album at least, the Guy Forsyth Band has tweaked its name to reflect a collection drawing upon the down-home blues music Forsyth explored in the early ’90s. Subsequent forays into old-timey Americana forms with the Asylum Street Spankers and most recently the Hot Nut Riveters have provided Forsth with multiple outlets for his versatile musicianship; here, he returns to a form that’s well-suited to his guitar and harmonica workouts. Playing June 6 at Saxon Pub. Here’s the leadoff track “Good Stuff”:

Christy Hays & Caliche, self-titled (EP). The Americana singer-songwriter has teamed up with a band for her latest EP. Release show May 29 at Stay Gold. Here’s the track “How It Feels”:
