Musicians make ‘mixtape’ to benefit a local flood victim

HallmanFloodReliefMixtapeHere’s a creative approach to flood relief: Three dozen local musicians each contributed a song for a downloadable “mixtape” on Bandcamp, with the $15 minimum donation benefiting South Austin producer Mark Hallman and his family.

The Hallmans suffered significant damage to their house in the Memorial Day flood. A producer who has worked with many local musicians at his Congress House Studio, Hallman quickly found friends and colleagues rallying to help. In a week’s time, they put together the “Hallman Flood Relief Mixtape,” with all donations going directly to the Hallman family.

The set includes songs from Eliza Gilkyson & Shawn Colvin, Jon Dee Graham, Sara Hickman, Will Sexton, Akina Adderley & the Vintage Playboys, Danny Schmidt, Charlie Faye, Randy Weeks, the Belle Sounds and more than two dozen other local acts. Most of the songs were recorded over the years at Hallman’s studio.
