Oshun at the Sahara Lounge. The duo, a pair of NYU students, call their sound “Iya-Sol,” an amalgamation of the West African Yoruba term for priestess and soul, as in soul music, or sun. Their music draws on ancient African traditions, richly instrumented neo-soul and politically forward-thinking rap to create a sound that’s both aurally entrancing and vitally important. Hosted by Riders Against the Storm with local artists Alessi Lani, David Sha and Blackchyl of Mindz of a Different Kind opening. $10. 10 p.m. 1413 Webberville Road. saharalounge.com. — D.S.S.
