New Mastersounds, George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners at Parish. The Parish serves up an insanely funky two-night stand. The New Mastersounds are the house band for the Cooker, an implausibly amazing groove kitchen in the northern English city of Leeds. Their latest album is a fantastic collection of body-moving breakbeats with a surprisingly good reggae cover of Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” thrown in for good measure. Bass innovator and Meters frontman George Porter Jr. joins the bill with his Runnin’ Pardners, ensuring an evening of supreme instrumental excellence. $25-$30. 9 p.m. doors (Friday and Saturday). 214 E. Sixth St. parishaustin.com. — D.S.S.

Also: The Longhorn Network is primarily about sports, but there’s room for Austin music, too.
