“Chicano Giants of Jazz” with Joe Gallardo & Luis Gasca at H&H Ballroom. Two Texas-born jazz horn players, trombonist Joe Gallardo and trumpet player Luis Gasca, team up for a special engagement at the southeast Austin events center. Both men boast impressive resumes. Gasca, who has been performing for over 50 years, has a discography that logs recordings with Janis Joplin, Santana, Van Morrison, the Grateful Dead and Count Basie. Gallardo, a Corpus Christi native who has lived in Germany for several decades but is returning for this rare occasion, was largely responsible for Mongo Santamaria’s Grammy-winning “Amanecer” and played or recorded with the likes of Chet Baker, Perez Prado, Stan Kenton and Al Jarreau. The two men will be joined at the show by guest vocalist Andy Gamon and a local ensemble who will play everything from Tejano to jazz. $25. 8 p.m. 4404 Brandt Road. 210-724-2443. — D.S.S.
