Moving Panoramas play the Hotel Vegas and Volstead fifth-anniversary party.

Hotel Vegas and Volstead Lounge five-year anniversary. It’s only been five years since Jason McNeely’s team took over a troubled spot with a violent past and turned it into a vital eastside outpost for Austin music, but the club’s contribution to the local scene is so significant it feels much longer. Vegas hosts some touring shows, but the bulk of their programming supports local bands. A quick glance through the excellent lineup of this free show underlines the essential role these small incubator clubs play in nurturing Austin talent. Roxy Roca, Sweet Spirit, Moving Panoramas, Rotten Mangos, Lake of Fire and Street Dads all perform. 5 p.m. texashotelvegas.com. — D.S.S.

Also: It’s a good night for fans of sophisticated musicianship as jazz guitarist Madeleine Peyroux visits One World Theatre, contemporary classical ensemble Eighth Blackbird plays Bass Concert Hall and guitarist Isaac Bustos does a “Classical Cactus” show at Cactus Cafe with Tuski & Fullerton. … Top roots options include Ray Wylie Hubbard at Strange Brew, the Derailers at the Broken Spoke and Dale Watson at the Highball. … Other locals in action include Emily Wolfe at Geraldine’s, Jai Malano and Paul Oscher at C-Boy’s, and Drew Davis celebrating a new EP at One-2-One Bar.
