Austin Music Commission to host a series of music summits

Following up on Mayor Adler’s music omnibus plan, unveiled in late February, a day after an Austin Music Commission report showed the Austin music industry has lost 1,200 music jobs in four years, the Austin Music commission has announced a series of music summits. There is one summit per Austin city council district, and each district’s music commissioner will host the conversation in his or her district. The summits are also broken down by genre. Members of the public are invited to participate. The schedule is below.

Apr 9, 2-4 p.m. Patsy’s Café – District 2  – Punk/Alternative

Apr 16, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The Water Tank – District 6 – Jazz (Mayor also attending this one)

Apr 16, 2-4 p.m. Carver Museum and Cultural Center – District 1 – Urban/Rap

Apr 23, 1-2:30 p.m. Strange Brew Lounge Side – District 5 – Blues/Soul/World

Apr 28, 6:30-8 p.m. Monkey Nest Coffee – District 7 – Americana/Folk/Acoustic

Apr 30, 1-3 p.m. Kick Butt Coffee Music & Booze – District 4 – Rock/Metal/Hard Rock

May 7, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Fiesta Gardens – District 3 – Indie/Rock/Pop Rock

May 7, 1-3 p.m. Spider House Ballroom– District 9 – Latin

District 8 and 10 still TBA
