Country Music Roundup: Blake Shelton sings gospel, Dierks Bentley drunk dials and ‘Nashville’ comes to Austin

Welcome back to the Country Music Roundup, a weekly blog where we’ll give you the latest news in country music releases and local country shows. For a more in-depth analysis of the genre and where it’s headed, check back with our weekly Gone Country blog every Thursday.

New Music This Week:

-Blake Shelton’s new song “Savior’s Shadow” is less country and more gospel, letting the strings enhance the emotion behind lyrics like “Standing in my Savior’s shadow/Grace will lead to where I’m free.” The song is the second single off of Shelton’s May 20 album “If I’m Honest.”

-Dierks Bentley’s new single “What the Hell Did I Say” tells a story of the rare, well-received drunk dial. His new album “Black” is slated for a May 27 release.

-Dallas native Michael Martin Murphey‘s “High Stakes” album comes out on Earth Day (April 22) and is about ranchers and cowboys who make their living from the environment.
