If you haven’t seen Christy Hays’ name in the club listings much lately, there’s a reason for that: The roots-country singer-songwriter has mostly been living in Butte, Montana, for the past year. She’s still keeping a foothold in Austin, though, and this week she returns for a slew of local shows before heading out on a midwest tour at the end of the month.
While in Butte, she recorded a video for a new song called “Don’t Let Me Die in California,” performing live in her house with dobro player Tony Polecastro as the only accompanist. It’s a low-budget production but an enchanting song, and we’re premiering it today on Austin360.com.
Catch Hays while she’s here at the following local hot spots:
Tuesday, Oct. 11: Stay Gold
Thursday, Oct. 13: White Horse
Friday, Oct. 14: Proof & Cooper (Dripping Springs)
Saturday, Oct. 15: Central Market North
