If you’re planning to go to the inaugural Sound on Sound Festival this weekend at Sherwood Forest Faire outside McDade, and you did not already pre-purchase your shuttle ticket online, you will have to rely upon your own trusty steed for transport. The festival’s shuttle service to and from the Renaissance Fest village, an hour outside of town, is now sold out. Onsite parking passes and camping passes for the festival are still available.
While festival’s quirky setting is actually a highlight, the distance from Austin is likely the biggest hurdle organizers, members of the same crew who produced and booked Fun Fun Fun Fest in Downtown Austin for ten years, will have to clear. Eliminating walk-up shuttle service will not help. Last week, festival organizers told the Statesman they had chartered five luxury buses that will set out for the festival grounds every half hour from the Mohawk.
