After some confusion when the City of Austin released a South by Southwest week party permit list with no Fader Fort on it a couple weeks ago, representatives from the music and style magazine have confirmed that the Fort will return to Austin this year for a smaller, invite-only party at Volcom Garden at 1209 E. Sixth St.

Artists currently booked to appear include recent Fader cover artist, rapper Young M.A., fellow rapper Lizzo, (who’s about to own SXSW),  Cardi B., Downtown Boys and Kap G. Refreshments include Budweiser beer, Jack Daniel’s cocktails and Vitaminwater and sponsors, Toyota and The North Face will have interactive activations on site.

Last year was the Fort’s final go round at Pine Street Station, the site the magazine transformed into a perennially epic side party that hosted drop ins from Drake, Kanye and Usher to name a few. The building was moved and the site was shut down for redevelopment last summer.

In a statement, Fader president Andy Cohn described the move down the street as a return to the party’s roots in Austin. He said this year’s party set up resembles “the original intimate feel of the Fader Fort.”

Guests will receive invites to the party through email. There will be no public RSVP.  The Fort will, however, host the You Who! Rock Show For Kids (presented by Toyota), a ticketed event that is open to the public on Thursday, March 16. The kids’ show is a benefit for MyMusicRX, an organization that provides music therapy services to childhood cancer patients.

Performances from the Fader Fort will stream online at thefader.com.
