It was a crowded house on Thursday morning at the W Hotel for KGSR’s Live Morning Broadcast, which included performances from Spoon, Third Eye Blind, Karen Elson, Mondo Cozmo and a surprise appearance from TV personality Rachael Ray.
The highlight of the morning was the final set from Austin’s Spoon, who performed two songs from the new album, “Hot Thoughts,” which comes out tomorrow.
TV personality Rachael Ray stopped by as well to chat with Andy Langer about the 10th anniversary of her Feedback Party at Stubb’s and her new pop-up boutique on South Congress.
Third Eye Blind singer Stephan Jenkins dedicated his first song, “Shipboard Cook,” to Ray and even earned a kiss from her. His second song, “Jumper,” received a standing ovation from the crowd.
Southern California’s Mondo Cozmo also scored a standing ovation with their hit, “Shine,” which has been in heavy rotation in recent weeks on KGSR.
Lead singer Josh Ostrander commented on the audience’s alcohol consumption — “You guys drinking?” — and joked about his long history with various bands and recording projects.
“I told my wife this is a 20-year project,” he said. “This is the 19th year.”
Karen Elson, a well-known English model who was previously married to Jack White, was another highlight. Lo Moon, Morgxn, My Jerusalem and Bee Caves also performed.
