Housing Opportunities for Musicians and Entertainers describes itself as “a local nonprofit group which aids some of Austin’s aging and vulnerable members of the musical community with housing aid and assistance.” Founded by local musicians including Marcia Ball, Carolyn Wonderland, Ruthie Foster and Shelley King, the group helped six Austin musicians take care of rent, utilities and other housing needs in 2016.

Saturday and Sunday, April 8-9, is the group’s annual HOME Sale, a lage-scale garage sale of music collectables, furniture, clothes, antiques, music gear and more to help fund those efforts. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 3010-B S. Lamar Blvd.

Those in need can apply for assistance through the HOME website or via the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians. All applicants must be at least 55 years old. HOME was formed in 2012 to assist blues singer Miss Lavelle White’s relocation to Austin.
