On Wednesday, modern guitar hero Jack White played the Austin360 Amphitheater as part of his tour promoting his strange new album, “Boarding House Reach.”
On Thursday, White hit the diamond at the Long Time Texas, a sand lot baseball facility in far East Austin, for a 10-inning game that pitted his own Warstic Baseball club against local club the Texas Playboys.
Played 10 innings today against #jackwhite and the @warsticbaseball club at the @thelongtimetexas. Here’s a photo of @farizzly_bear, Jack and myself. Also when Tina from @empirebmx ask you to get something signed for Owen you get something signed for Owen. #bmxfamily #atx #sandlotbaseball #texasplayboysbaseball #baseball #bmx #empirebmx
He graciously posed with his Playboy fans, who posted shots to their Instagram feeds.
White, who seems to be genuinely enjoying himself in the pics, is a part owner of Warstic Baseball, a company that makes “wood and metal bats for hunters of the baseball.” They had a popup shop at the show on Wednesday.
This is all great stuff, but our favorite pic from Jack White’s time in Austin is probably this one with Sabrina Ellis from A Giant Dog. The local rockers opened for White at the show.
