John Fullbright, Kelley Mickwee, the Peterson Brothers and Monte Montgomery are the artists taking part in this year’s Nobelity Project 4×4 Concert, an annual benefit that has helped to build a school for children in Africa.
Funds from this year’s event, set for Sept. 26 at Gibson Guitar Showroom, will go toward building a library for Mugaka Primary, a K-8 school in rural Kenya that the Nobelity Project first partnered with in 2011.
Tickets, $50, include pre-show food and drinks, followed by the concert in which each of the four acts will play four songs (thus the 4×4 name).
Fullbright, from Oklahoma, is the lone non-local act on the bill, but he performs here often and is one of Americana music’s most promising singer-songwriters. Mickwee makes her own records in addition to performing with popular Austin band Shinyribs and spinning records on Sun Radio.
The Peterson Brothers, a mainstay at Austin’s Continental Club, have been a rising star of Austin’s blues scene in recent years. Montgomery is a longtime local fixture as a guitarist and singer songwriter who’s also done music for various TV and film projects.
