It is unclear how many dates the artist a.k.a. Donald Glover will miss. We have reached out to Austin City Limits Festival organizers to see if his headline sets at the festival on Oct. 7 and Oct. 14 will be affected.
UPDATE 9.25.18: Two days after Childish Gambino reportedly cut his Dallas show short because of an injury, he has canceled the next date on his “This Is America” tour, a Tuesday night appearance at the Forum in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Times reports that promoter Live Nation said the show would be rescheduled for a later date. Gambino, a.k.a. the actor Donald Glover, is scheduled to play a second Los Angeles show on Oct. 3, but the Times reports that a representative from the venue had no new information about that show.
On Tuesday morning, representatives from Austin City Limits Festival had no information about whether the reported injury would affect Childish Gambino’s headlining sets at the festival on Oct. 7 and Oct. 14.
EARLIER: Childish Gambino’s “This is America” tour has been earning a slew of ecstatic reviews as it winds its way around the country. The tour, which the artist a.k.a. Donald Glover says will be his last as Childish Gambino, gave Houston “all the feels” on Saturday, but at his Dallas show on Sunday, it hit a snag.
Shortly after the show concluded, reports began to circulate on social media that Glover had ended the set early, skipping an encore that included crowd-essentials “Redbone” and “3005” that he’s been playing at other dates on the tour. On a Reddit thread about the show, Dallas fans speculated that Glover had injured his foot.
On Monday, TMZ reported that an official at the American Airlines Center said after the show that Glover had broken his foot. Several concert-goers told TMZ Glover “misstepped during a dance move.” TMZ also reports that Glover “arrived to his set in a wheelchair and leg brace,” for a Vegas concert on Friday night.
Childish Gambino is scheduled to headline Austin City Limits Festival on Oct. 7 and 14.
On Monday afternoon, representatives from the festival said they had no information about whether Glover has an injury that could affect his appearance at the festival.
